Leigh McCready Steps Down as President of Peregian Family & Friends
After six years of dedicated service, Leigh McCready, our founding president, has decided to step down from her role. Since its inception in 2017, Leigh has been instrumental in leading our organisation to remarkable achievements, leaving an indelible mark on the Peregian community.
Under Leigh’s leadership, Peregian Family & Friends has raised over $130,000 to fund vital community projects. One of our most notable accomplishments has been the successful campaign to revive the Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club, which had been closed since 2014. Leigh was also instrumental in the resurrection of Peregian’s Nippers program, with a staggering 200 Nippers enjoying the beach this season.
She passes the baton to incoming president, Graham Reid, a local Peregian Beach resident. Her legacy of community service and achievement will undoubtedly continue to inspire. Graham acknowledges Leigh’s unparalleled commitment to our community, recognising her as the driving force behind our organisation’s remarkable accomplishments.
Since its formation in 2017, Peregian Family & Friends has evolved into a cornerstone of the community, representing all localities within the Peregian area. From managing the coast’s longest-running Christmas Carols event to raising funds at the annual Spirit of Peregian events, Peregian Family & Friends has consistently strived to enhance the lives of residents.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Leigh for her years of selfless service and wish her the very best in her future endeavours. We also welcome Graham as our new President. A local for many years, Graham brings years of management experience and a strong commitment to community within the Noosa region.
